Indroduction and Uses of Oxcodone hydrocodone

Oxycodone is in a class of drugs called narcotic analgesics. Oxycodone is used to relieve moderate to moderate-to-severe pain. It also is used to relieve postpartum, postoperative, and dental pain.

ANZEMET Tablets are indicated for the prevention of nausea and vomiting associated with moderately emetogenic cancer chemotherapy, including initial and repeat courses; the prevention of postoperative nausea and vomiting.

The oxycodone component is 14-hydroxydihydrocodeinone, a white, odorless, crystalline powder having a saline, bitter taste. The chemical structure of Oxycodone is the methylether of oxymorphone: 3-Methyl-oxymorphone. The chemical structure of Oxycodone could be also described as 14-Hydroxy-Codeinone.

Possible Side effects of Oxycodone hcl

• lightheadedness,
• dizziness,
• sedation,
• nausea,
• vomiting.
• drowsiness,
• constipation,
• spasm of the ureter, which can lead to difficulty in urinating.
  

Dosage and dosing of Oxycodone cr

The doses of these medicines will be different for different patients. Follow your doctor's orders or the directions on the label. The following information includes only the average doses of these medicines. If your dose is different, do not change it unless your doctor tells you to do so.

Warning and Precautions of Oxycodone

• Do not crush, chew, or break controlled-release forms of oxycodone such as Oxycontin. Swallow them whole. They are specially formulated to release oxycodone slowly into your system. Breaking them would cause too much drug to be released into the blood at one time leading to a potentially fatal dose of oxycodone.
• tell your doctor and pharmacist if you are allergic to oxycodone, codeine, sulfites (some preparations of oxycodone contain sulfites and may cause allergic reactions), or any other drugs. If you are allergic to aspirin, tell your doctor and do not take any aspirin and oxycodone combination product (e.g., Percodan or Roxiprin).
• Do not stop taking oxycodone suddenly if you have been taking it continuously for more than 5 to 7 days. Stopping suddenly could cause withdrawal symptoms and make you uncomfortable. Your doctor may want to gradually reduce the dose.
• you should know that this drug may make you drowsy. Do not drive a car or operate machinery until you know how this drug affects you.
• tell your doctor if you have or have ever had hypothyroidism, Addison's disease, urethral stricture, prostatic hypertrophy, or lung or liver disease.
• tell your doctor if you are pregnant, plan to become pregnant, or are breast-feeding. If you become pregnant while taking oxycodone, call your doctor.

Storage conditions of Oxycodone hydrochloride

Keep nitulamide in the container it came in, tightly closed, and out of reach of children. Store it at room temperature and away from light and excess heat and moisture (not in the bathroom). Throw away any medication that is outdated or no longer needed. Talk to your pharmacist about the proper disposal of your medication.

What happens if I miss a dose?

Take the missed dose as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the dose you missed and take only your next regularly scheduled dose. Do not take a double dose of this medication.

Oxycodone overdose - In case of emergency/overdose

In case of overdose, call your local poison control center at 1-800-222-1222. If the victim has collapsed or is not breathing, call local emergency services at 911.
