Idarubicin
Idarubicin hydrochlorideIdarubicin is an antimitotic and cytostatic anthraycline. Idarubicin intercalates with DNA and interacts with topoisomerase II and has an inhibitory effect on nucleic acid synthesis. Indications: Acute nono-Iymphocytic leukemia, advanced breast cancer. Dosage of Idarubicin hydrochloride30mg/m2 orally given daily for 3 days as a single agent, or between 15 to 30mg/m2 orally daily for 3 days in combination with other antileukemic agents. In advanced breast cancer 45mg/m2 orally given either on a single day or divided over 3 consecutive day (15mg/m2/day) to be repeated every 3 or 4 weeks based on the haematological recovery. A dose of 35 mg/m2 orally on one day may be administered in combination with other cytotoxic agents. In patients with hepatic impairment a dose reduction of it should be considered.
