Cefotaxime Sodium- Cefotaxime DrugIndroduction and Uses of Cefotaxime SodiumCefotaxime Sodium stops bacteria from making their cell wall, so the bacteria die. Cefotaxime sodium is used to treat serious lower respiratory tract and urinary tract infections, gynecologic infections, and infections of the blood, skin, and central nervous system. They work by killing bacteria or preventing their growth. Cefotaxime Sodium are second-generation cephalosporins used chiefly for surgical prophylaxis as well as treating respiratory tract, skin and structure, bone and joint, urinary tract, gynecologic, and intra-abdominal infections caused by susceptible bacteria. Cefotaxime Sodium is given by an injection in the vein over 30 minutes, 2 to 4 times a day. Cefotaxime Sodium is an antibiotic that belongs to the group of drugs called cephalosporins which are used to treat infections in many different parts of the body. They are sometimes given with other antibiotics. Some cephalosporins given by injection are also used to prevent infections before, during, and after surgery. This drug is available in the form of injection. Possible Side effects of Cefotaxime SodiumAlong with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Storage conditions of Cefotaxime SodiumKeep Cefotaxime Sodium in the container it came in, tightly closed, and out of reach of children. Store it at room temperature and away from light and excess heat and moisture (not in the bathroom). Throw away any medication that is outdated or no longer needed. Talk to your pharmacist about the proper disposal of your medication. What happens if I miss a dose? Take the missed dose as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the dose you missed and take only your next regularly scheduled dose. Do not take a double dose of this medication. In case of emergency/overdose In case of overdose, call your local poison control center at 1-800-222-1222. If the victim has collapsed or is not breathing, call local emergency services at 911.
