Cefepime
Cefepime Hydrochloride - Cefepime Drug InformationIndroduction and Uses of CefepimeCefepime stops bacteria from making their cell wall, so the bacteria die. Cefepime is used to treat gram-negative and gram-positive bacteria, especially those causing infections in the lungs, kidneys, bladder, skin, and abdomen. It is active against some bacteria that are resistant to other antibiotics. They work by killing bacteria or preventing their growth. Cefepime is given by injection in a vein over 30 minutes, 2 to 3 times a day for 7 to 10 days Possible Side effects of CefepimeAlong with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.
Dosage and dosing of CefepimeThe doses of these medicines will be different for different patients. Follow your doctor's orders or the directions on the label. Storage conditions of CefepimeKeep Cefepime in the container it came in, tightly closed, and out of reach of children. Store it at room temperature and away from light and excess heat and moisture (not in the bathroom). Throw away any medication that is outdated or no longer needed. Talk to your pharmacist about the proper disposal of your medication. What happens if I miss a dose? Take the missed dose as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the dose you missed and take only your next regularly scheduled dose. Do not take a double dose of this medication. In case of emergency/overdose In case of overdose, call your local poison control center at 1-800-222-1222. If the victim has collapsed or is not breathing, call local emergency services at 911.
